As I continue on my journey, the philosophy and philanthropy that inspires us becomes clear. Change, acceptance, reconciliation, togetherness and upliftment. It is an ethos we share not only among ourselves, but with all the people of the world.
Wandering along a wing of the house, I come across the offices and boardroom, and another element comes to light. I can sense the responsibility of encouraging goodwill and cooperation between people from all walks of life, between families, friends, organisations and countries. A challenge and a duty.
“This retreat is actually for reconciliation. As you see when you enter, this is the Nelson Mandela Centre for Reconciliation, and the idea is that if I have the need to mediate between parties, the best atmosphere would be Shambala. But of course, I myself and my family would like to use this place for purposes of resting.”
